SHAMPA SHAH
BHOPAL
Covered by countless layers of sunshine and rain standing mute under the sky on the silent earth, witnessing and embodying the eternal human complex reflecting some fear, some faith and some gratitude, the offerings lie there in an eternity of patience and plea. Shampa narrates, "I too wish to make my own offerings to the same shrine somewhere hidden in an unknown grove or forest amid the self–same offerings filled with similar fear, faith and gratitude – a tree or a raised platform under the tree marked by the presence of terracotta horses, elephants or bulls which are actually offerings made to the gods. The actual deity is supposed to reside in that particular tree or permeates the entire jungle and hence, never visualized".
